Theatre Partnership Program

The Theatre Nova Scotia (TNS) Theatre Partnership Program is a free, optional service provided to TNS Professional Theatre and Affiliate members in good standing that are not for profit organizations without charitable status. Members who have opted in to this service may accept charitable donations through Theatre Nova Scotia. The charitable number for Theatre Nova Scotia is: 119063394RR0001.

There is no fee to use the Theatre Program, but there are 5% transaction fees for credit card transactions and 4% transaction fees for debit transactions. There are no fees for donations made by cheque or cash.

According to the Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) Charitable Status requirements, Theatre Nova Scotia must receive acknowledgement as a supporter of the theatrical activities of participating companies through logo recognition on all publications, such as brochures, posters, programs, webpages, etc., and a copy of or link to each publication must be sent to TNS.

Participating companies are also required by the CRA to file an annual report with TNS including budget actuals by May 31st each year. A copy of a final report to another funder is acceptable.

A final report must include:

  1. Name of the company
  2. Date submitted
  3. Activity Report: A short description of the project and the activities you undertook with the assistance
  4. Impact Report: Describe the impact of the grant in terms of the short and long term impact on your organization and participating artists as well as public impact and dissemination.
  5. Budget Actuals

How to Solicit Donations

All donations must be made directly to Theatre Nova Scotia and the TNS logo, address, phone number and website must appear on all solicitation materials. Solicitation materials may appear as inserts or as a part of the season brochure, as separate pamphlets, mass mailings, or as online documents. For feedback on solicitation materials, please contact the office.

All donations received by TNS must include each donor’s full name and address for tax receipt purposes.

Receiving your Donation

Once TNS has received a donation, please allow up to ten business days to receive a cheque along with a record of donor information. TNS will mail tax receipts directly to the donors.
