HomeFirst Theatre was founded by Artistic Director Mary Vingoe and playwright Colleen Wagner in 2010 to produce theatre of social and/or political importance with an emphasis on plays from Atlantic Canada.  The company has produced three acclaimed world premieres; Home by Colleen Wagner in 2010 at the Bus Stop Theatre, Refuge by Mary Vingoe in 2013 and Messenger by Wendy Lill in 2015, both with Eastern Front Theatre at Neptune Scotiabank Studio Theatre.  Refuge was nominated for best new play at the Merritt Awards and a named a finalist for the Nova Scotia Masterworks Award in 2014.
