Annie Baker's play The Aliens

Type: Live performance   MEMBER TYPE: Professional

A live, in-person, COVID-safe performance.

Theatre in Space presents a site-specific production of Annie Baker's play The Aliens behind Propeller Brewing in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. Each night, a limited and distanced audience will have the chance to experience the Atlantic Canadian premier of this landmark work from MacArthur Fellow and Pulitzer Prize-winner Annie Baker

The Aliens is a subtle excavation of how young men form identity. It begins with two thirty-something best friends, Jasper and KJ, talking music and literature in their favourite hangout spot, the lot behind The Green Sheep. When Evan, the shop's new employee, starts asking questions, the two friends invite him into their world. The three open up to one another, sharing dreams, stories, and substances, revealing the strengths and limitations of their bond.

This May 24th-29th, Theatre in Space presents a site-specific production of American playwright Annie Baker's 2010 drama The Aliens. Each night, a limited and distanced audience will have the chance to experience the Atlantic Canadian premier of this landmark work from MacArthur Fellow and Pulitzer Prize-winner Annie Baker, whose other plays include The Antipodes, John, The Flick, and an adaptation of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya. The play will be presented for six consecutive evenings outdoors, behind Propeller Brewing, 2015 Gottingen Street in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. The lot behind Propeller can be accessed from Maitland Street. There will not be accessible washrooms on site.

Audience members are asked to please arrive masked and remain so unless actively drinking. We also recommend bundling up!

Ticket holders for any performances cancelled due to weather will be offered a refund.

The play runs for two hours, including an intermission.

Warnings: substance use and mature content.
