A groundbreaking stand-up-sit-down-comedy-nightmare about a man named Victor. His mother is possessed by the devil. His father is the saddest man in the world. His sister is in love with the dog. The one he loves does not love him…and he’s got nowhere to live. A man on the precipice of a nervous breakdown, Victor drags his audience through his life, his fantasies, his desires, and his recent push to the edge as he searches for answers in Daniel MacIvor’s grand epic.

Daniel is originally from Cape Breton and currently divides his time between Toronto and Halifax. Daniel has written numerous award-winning theatre productions and his work has been translated into French, Portuguese, Spanish, Czech, German and Japanese. Daniel received the Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama for his collection of plays I Still Love You and in 2008 he was awarded the Siminovitch Prize for Theatre.

~ An Experiment in Radical Access ~

In the light of this unprecedented time, we are trying something Radical: We want to become the first Professional, Community-Funded Theatre in Canada. We are looking for 2000 people to make monthly donations of $25 or more to publicly fund our operations and projects and as a result, we will offer all 12 Mainstage plays and musicals every year free of charge.

We haven't quite reached that goal, but we know that can work and we're willing to make the first move.

As an experiment, our two August productions - House and John & Jen - will be free of charge so that we can prove this model wil work and be amazing for our community.

If you're trying it out, we highly encourage you to make a monthly pledge and help us reach our goal so we can finally rely on a consistent revenue stream and know month-to-month that we can pay our bills. For more information or to make your pledge, check out: http://www.highlandartstheatre.com/radical-access
