Is This the Way I’m Going Out?

A live, in-person, COVID-safe performance. 19+ (due to liquor licensing)

One minute for every year Halifax north ender Todd Matheson has been a bartender. Confronting the Restaurant Association of Nova Scotia’s claim that they represent him as part of 33, 000 workers, it’s docu theatre that collides the personal and the political, with the plight of the worker its beating heart. Chippy, unvarnished, irreverent, and genuine—this immersive performance is at Matheson’s work, Charlie’s Club. Note: This performance is autobiographical and references addiction and assault.
Source material and Performer: Todd Matheson
Researcher, Writer, and Director: Karen Bassett*
* The participation of this Artist is arranged by permission of the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association under the provisions of the Dance Opera Theatre Policy (DOT).
